Jon Paulien’s view of the Seven Churches

Introduction

Dr Jon Paulien presented a series of lectures in Zatonie (Poland) titled The Final Events (1995).  In the lecture titled How to Study the Book of Revelation he undertook to present some basic tools or principles of studying the book so that people could study it more effectively.

One can prove anything

In his other lecture The Principles of Bible Study Dr Paulien makes a statement warning that “one can prove just about anything from the Bible”; then he commences teaching how to study the Bible.  In the light of this statement, one may wonder whether what he is about to teach is genuine or just another attempt at ‘proving his own point from the Bible.’  As a safeguard from going astray Dr Paulien suggests a study group as a frame of reference, but again—who knows whether the study group itself would refrain from ‘just proving their own point from the Bible.’  As this vicious circle contracts, no one can be sure whether it is possible to find the truth, because as was stated by Dr Paulien: ‘just about anything can be proven from the Bible.’  I wonder where Dr Paulien got his assurance that what he teaches is true.  Is he aware that making such a statement undermines his own position in teaching principles of bible study? Święty clown? A może święty grzesznik?

Choć jest to nienormalne, to jest jednak zrozumiałe, że przeciwnicy Boga jak ateiści czy ewolucjoniści lekceważą Boga a częstokroć ubliżają Mu.  Natomiast trudno mi zrozumieć tych którzy są oddanymi sługami Boga, a jednak umniejszają chwale Bożej.  I czasem dzieje się to zza pulpitu, przed kamerą telewizyjną, lub w periodykach czytanych przez miliony ludzi.  Być może wydaje się to nie do uwierzenia, ale pamiętajmy że zło wkrada się niepostrzegalnie, bo inaczej można by go zbyt łatwo zdemaskować, co nie jest w interesie Szatana. Na jaki temat chciałbyś rozmawiać?  Co chciałbyś się dowiedzieć lub powiedzieć innym?  A może chciałbyś coś napisać a potem kierować dyskusją?

Nie mogę gwarantować spełnienia jakichkolwiek marzeń, ale chciałbym zobaczyć, czy mogę w jakiś sposób pomóc—czy to przez udzielenie miejsca na blogu, czy w jakiś inny sposób—w prowadzeniu dialogu (czy polilogu) na tematy ważne dla adwentystów.

Stworzyłem tego bloga aby udostępnić możliwość inteligentnej rozmowy na tematy charakterystyczne dla Adwentystów Dnia Siódmego, gdzie jedynymi narzędziami będzie Biblia (sola scriptura) i rozsądek (logika, dedukcja).  Spodziewam się od Internautów grzecznego odnoszenia się do siebie, aby rozmowa była przyjemnością i aby każdy z chęcią spędzał tutaj swój czas.

Dlatego zastrzegam sobie prawo ostatecznej decyzji w takich sprawach jak:

  • Zakres poruszanych zagadnień
  • Które z komentarzy nie zostaną opublikowane (np. niegrzeczne, natrętne)
  • Zamknięcie postu (jeśli z jakichś powodów post staje się problemem)
  • Oraz innych rzeczy, które pomogą utrzymać przyjazny charakter blogu.

Jeśli ktoś nie ma złych zamiarów, punkty powyżej nie powinny stwarzać żadnych ograniczeń.

Jeśli ktoś pragnie otrzymywać powiadomienie o zmianach na tym blogu bez wchodzenia tutaj co kilka godzin, można wpisać swój adres internetowy i nacisnąć guzik „Sign me up,” a powiadomienia o zmianach zostaną wysłane na ten adres.

Jeśli ktoś ma jakieś pytania osobiste, można je wpisywać na tej stronie z prośbą o niepublikowanie.

Aha, jak dokonać wpisu! Naciśnij słowa „Leave a comment” (tuż poniżej tytułu postu), a pojawi się forma.  Można też nacisnąć na tytuł postu, a inne posty zostaną schowane, i na dole ukażą się istniejące komentarze oraz forma do wpisywania następnych.

The Unknown Seven Thunders

Background

Some time ago (20 Aug 2008), the website of Dandenong Polish Seventh-day Adventist Church (Melbourne, Australia) published the article The Forgotten Seven Thunders written by Dr Ron Nielsen of Bond University in Queensland, Australia, which was originally introduced with a note: “The article below presents biblical matters as perceived by a scientist.”  After I red this article, I sent a few questions to Dr Nielsen, but never received any reply.  Therefore I began to analyze the article to see if my questions were too silly to ask a scientist, but as a result I confirmed my suspicion that my questions may be too hard to answer.  Here they are: Read more of this post
